A Boston Birthday
If the Red Sox are playing a home game on my birthday I always try and grab tickets to that game. This year luck was smiling on me when my birthday fell on a Saturday and I was able to purchase four tickets to

the game. This was back in November; the plan was to take my then girlfriend Jen, my sister Noelle (who had never been to Fenway) and Adam. After my dad died in April; Jen, who I've remained friends with, stepped up to the plate and offered her ticket to my Mom. How cool was that? Now we'd have a nice little family trip up to Fenway. Naturally the week prior to the game they were predicting gloom and rain on Saturday. They couldn't have been more wrong, the day was sunny and warm! Was someone smiling on us from above? Aside from the weather there were other odd things going on that day. First off my favorite Red Sox player, Tim Wakefield was pitching, the girl who sang the national anthem was from my Alma Mata, UConn. And finally, the cerimonial first pitch was thrown by the family of Dennis Thompson. If you don't know who Dennis Thompson is, please read the article it's a very touching story. The Red Sox then gave all of us a rousing 9 to 3 victory.
