Random Trips - Watching the Cubbies with Lauren.

A great trip out to see Lauren in Chicago! With deft planning (and a bit of luck) the Blues Festival was that same weekend I planned to visit. We figured we'd catch a Cubs game at Wrigley on Friday then hit the Festival on Saturday and sample the great cuisine all weekend long. We did all that but due to a series of misadventures (spained ankle, losing car keys, terrible hangovers) I was only able to get pictures of the baseball game... Ask me about those adventures sometime, you'll get a great laugh out of it.

Talk about good luck (and Laurens connections)! We found some great parking right near Wrigley Field in an area called "Boy's Town". I asked Lauren "Why is it called Boy's Town"? Soon I had my answer and found some interesting new stores such as, I kid you not, Gay-Mart. Also a public service announcement from your friends here at kirkgartside.com: Check your smoke detector.
Here are two Panoramic shots of the ballfield, the second shot is from the seats we wound up sneaking down to. Much better than being hidden behind a beam. Just like Fenway!
See those beers in hand? That's what got Lauren and I in trouble. After the game as we strolled down the street trying to find Lauren's friends, Mike and Jordan, I tripped. Ok, Ok I was wasted and rolled my ankle pretty badly (don't I look pathetic?). I wound up falling on my ass, ripping my jeans and bloodying up my knee good. As I lay on the ground all I could say was "Did I break my bobblehead doll?" That didn't stop us, we kept on drinking and walked all over Wrigleyville. The next day Rob (Lauren's man) drove us around Chicago and took us to the original Pizzaria Uno and the Blues Fest. If only I had my camera (and crutches)...
